What Is Backlapping?
Backlapping is a maintenance technique used for reel mowers to sharpen and adjust the cutting blades (reel blades) and bedknives. It involves rotating the reel backward (opposite to the usual cutting direction) while applying a lapping compound between the blades and bedknives. This process is typically done to maintain a clean, sharp cutting edge on the reel blades and ensure an even and consistent cut on the grass.
